District Attorney – Eighteenth (18th ) Judicial District – Castle Rock,  Colorado Deputy District Attorney

March 2001 – Present

Prosecute variety of Douglas County criminal matters including child abuse, DUI-DWAI, domestic violence, theft and traffic cases. Handled numerous jury trials, motions hearings, court trials, and pretrial conferences in county courts. Covered Lincoln County docket on several occasions which included responsibility for felony preliminary hearings and juvenile court matters.

Sebastian County Prosecutors’s Office – Fort Smith, Arkansas Deputy Prosecuting Attorney

Prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases in circuit, municipal, and juvenile courts. Lead prosecutor in methamphetamine manufacture, insurance fraud, DWI-manslaughter, sexual abuse, controlled substance delivery/possession, and felony petitions to revoke. First chair jury trial experience includes rape, domestic battery, criminal mischief, cruelty to animals, and indecent exposure cases. Second chair to elected Prosecuting Attorney in jury trial/trial preparation for capital murder, murder 1, domestic battery 1, false imprisonment, and DWI-manslaughter. Made charging decisions, prepared affidavits for search warrants, opposed motions to suppress and motions to transfer to juvenile court. Also responsible for plea negotiations, fugitive extraditions, discovery compliance, and pre-trial motions practice. Provided classroom instruction to local law enforcement officers. Attended various CLE seminars, including death penalty and juvenile justice.
