Matthew Scott law

Matthew H. Scott is an experienced attorney based in downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas, with a practice focused on criminal defense, business litigation, and real estate law. Drawing on nearly three decades of legal experience, Matthew provides clients with skilled, strategic representation rooted in a deep understanding of both prosecution and defense.

Before entering private practice, Matthew served as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s Eighteenth Judicial District, where he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases and developed a reputation for fairness, integrity, and trial excellence. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Sebastian County, Arkansas, gaining valuable courtroom experience and insight into the justice system from the inside out.

Matthew’s background also includes service at the highest levels of government. He began his career in Washington, D.C., working for U.S. Senator Hank Brown and serving in The White House within both the Office of Cabinet Affairs and the Office of Vice Presidential Advance.

A graduate of the University of Denver College of Law (Juris Doctor, 1996) and Cornell University (B.A., Magna Cum Laude, 1992), Matthew is admitted to practice law in Arkansas and Colorado and is a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor in Arkansas.
